Mali: Forecasts in agricultural production

Mali expects an agricultural production of 9 M tons during 2011-2012 campaign. The Malian High Council of Agriculture has a 9 M ton- plan for 2011-2012 agricultural campaign, all cereals and cotton included, according to an official source. Production objectives of the campaign are high for all cereals. The campaign is built around six promising crops such as rice, maize, wheat, millet/sorgho, beans and cotton. The expected total gross cereals production is estimated to 9 M tons.According to the Malian Ministry of Agriculture, cereals production was of 731.581,3 tons in 2010-2011 or an achievement rate of 98,6 % and an increase rate of 15,4 % compared to 2009-2010. The plan of 2011-2012 campaign corresponds to the fourth implementation year of the Ministry of Agriculture Action plan with the objective of 10 M tons of cereals a year by 2012.
