Regional Workshop on Risk management in Grain Markets - Nairobi Kenya

2011-06-24 Regional Workshop on Risk management in Grain Markets - Nairobi Kenya

From 7-8 July 2011, FAO, in collaboration with the Eastern Africa Grain Council, will organise a workshop on the ‘Implications of adopting market-based risk management instruments to mitigate import and export related risks in grain market’, in Nairobi (Kenya).

The main goal is to assist East African governments to identify and formulate appropriate and specific food security interventions that will boost food production, availability and access to food for the most vulnerable and cope with higher and more volatile food prices.

Moreover, the workshop will also seek to propose and introduce an alternative operational framework to mitigate risks at different levels, macro (regional and country level) and micro (small producers level), by quantifying the impact of innovative risk management tools, such as regional commodity exchange on trade, prices and stocks.
