Pierre BERTHELOT

An agro-economist by training, Pierre Berthelot spent nine of his 25+ years career in a leading ACP agricultural research institute, analyzing and disseminating innovative technologies for adoption by farmers, and consolidating farmer support services. He subsequently joined international development co-operation as a staff of well-known organisations such as the OECD, the African Development Bank, and the Commonwealth Secretariat. As Deputy Director at the Commonwealth Secretariat, he was task manager for several projects focusing on agricultural sector strategy development and adoption of innovative technologies in the production of both export and food crops. Until December 2006, he successfully managed the EU-funded twelve million Euros programme to support the integration of ACP states in the multilateral trading system (ACP MTS Programme).

Commodity Chain and Economics Expert
Jean-Yves HANSART

Holder of a University Degree in Agronomy, a Post-Graduate Degree in Business Administration and a Master Degree in Environment, Mr Jean-Yves Hansart has accumulated up to 15 years of experience in different ACP countries, both in Africa and in the Pacific. He has a profound knowledge of commodity chains through his managerial and technical responsibilities in various ACP commodity-dependent countries such as Burundi and Rwanda (coffee and tea), Papua New Guinea (cocoa, coconut and coffee) and recently Tanzania (coffee, tea and cotton). In particular, he has been involved in the strengthening of research institutions, restructuring of national commodity bodies, support to smallholders through decentralized structures, rehabilitation of social and economic infrastructure in post-conflict environment, definition of sector strategies and strategic action plans for the sustainability of key institutions, etc.

Administrative & Financial Expert
Laurence GUIGOU

Ms. Laurence Guigou is a graduate in Business Management and in agro food processing systems. She has over 20 years experience in project administration and management and has successfully managed the 20 million euros EDF programme EBAS – EU/ACP Business Assistance Scheme. She implemented the communication and information strategy of the programme, developed the manual of procedures, assisted several organisations and private firms in the elaboration of their business plan, developed a monitoring and impact assessment system, and coordinated the activities of eight regional offices. During the last ten years, she has managed her own private consulting firm, including the financial aspects of the business. In that capacity, she has also administratively and financially managed several EDF financed projects.

Information & Communication Expert
Mariane Tambwe

Before joining AAAP, Mariane held the position of “Communications Officer” in the “ACP Migration Facility”. She was previously Project Assistant in the EU-funded “TradeCom” PMU, where she was tasked with ensuring programme visibility, organising events in Brussels and the ACP regions, and maintaining a management information system to monitor programme activities. Mariane holds a Masters in Information & Communication from « l’Université Libre de Bruxelles » and a M.A. in « Development Management » from the Open University, UK.
